    System PulseMeter Network Diagram

    Network Diagram

"Network Diagram" tab contains current network map, displaying monitored networks and network devices. Using network diagram is the easiest way to manage network devices with the help of System PulseMeter.

"Network Diagram" can be used for viewing tests running on hosts, monitoring hosts state, fast drilling down to hosts with problems detected and managing network devices, like switching hubs and network printers.

Links between devices are represented by lines and color of the device node background indicates the device state or the percent of the failed tests.

Network diagram can be automatically created by System PulseMeter or adjusted manually.

    Menu

The "Network Diagram" menu is placed at the top of the network diagram tab and contains five buttons. From left to right, they are:

    • Scan network - click this button to open the "Network Scanner" dialog to start automatic network search.
    • Show/hide mini-map - click this button to display and hide the network mini-map.
    • Register node - click this button to add a new node to the network diagram. The "Node Properties" dialog for the new node will be displayed.
    • Edit node properties - select a node at the diagram and click this button to open the "Node Properties" dialog for it.
    • Delete node - to delete a node, select it on the network diagram by clicking it and click "Delete node".

    Network Mini-map

For more convenient viewing and scrolling the network diagram, use the network mini-map. Mini-map can be opened by clicking the corresponding button at the "Network Diagram" menu.

Left-click the mini-map and drag the view rectangle, to scroll the network diagram.

    Automatic Network Diagram Creation

To start automatic network map creation, use the "Network Scanner" dialog. The dialog can be opened by clicking the corresponding menu button at the "Network Diagram" program tab.

    Network Diagram Legend

Detected devices are grouped by networks. Network name is placed at the top of the grouping rectangle (blue color by default).

At the network diagram, System PulseMeter can display such device types, as:

    • Workstations - by default, all hosts, except the host with System PulseMeter core, are considered as workstations.
    • Workstations with System PulseMeter agent installed - hosts and servers with System PulseMeter agents installed on them.
    • Servers - by default, only host with System PulseMeter core installed is considered as server. To change workstation type to server, edit node properties.
    • Servers - with System PulseMeter agent installed.
    • Network switch/hubs
    • Routers
    • Printers

    Colors Indicating Devices State

Depending on the device state and percent of the failed tests, performed for the device, the color of node background is changed.

For each of nodes state there is a default color:

    • White color - indicates that all tests at the node were performed successfully.
    • Dark grey color - the host has a System PulseMeter agent installed on it and it is not responding/offline at the moment.
    • Grey color - indicates that the device is not monitored.
    • Yellow - indicates that the percent of the failed tests for the device is from 1% up to 30%.
    • Dark Red - red color indicates that more than 30% of tests for the device have failed.
