System PulseMeter Network Map Node Properties

    Network Map Node Properties

Each node displayed at the network diagram has it's own set of properties that can be adjusted in the "Network Map Node Properties" dialog. Properties are automatically filled in by System PulseMeter when a node is detected during the network scan.

To adjust properties of an existing node, right-click it, select "Edit Node Properties" in the popup menu and fill in new properties in the "Network Map Node Properties". You also can open the dialog by clicking the corresponding menu button at the "Network Diagram" tab.

When manually adding a new node ("Register node..." in the popup menu or corresponding button at the "Network Diagram" program tab) to the network map, all node properties have to be filled in by user. It is recommended to perform automatic scan after the program installation.

    • Display name - the name of the host, server, printer, switch, or other device, that will be displayed at the network map.
    • Node UID - node UID is used to associate the node at the network diagram with hosts and tests contained in System PulseMeter. It can contain either host name or, in case if the host name is not available, an IP address.
    • Host name - the name of the host associated with the node at the network diagram. In case if host name is not available (for example, for switch/hubs, routers, etc), this field is left blank.
    • Node type - to setup the device node, select the device type. It can be:
      • Workstation - select this type if you want to monitor a simple workstation.
      • Server - select "Server" as a node type to monitor hosts used as servers. By default, if a SPM core is installed on a host, it's type is set to "Server".
      • Printer - select this type to mark printers connected to network.
      • Network Switch/Hub - choose this type to setup monitoring of a switch/hub.
      • Router - select "Router" for monitoring of routers.
    • Network - SPM can detect and monitor numerous connected networks. To identify to which of the networks the device belongs to, select it from the list of available networks. The list can be empty in case if the automatic network scan was not performed.
