    System PulseMeter POP3 Server Test


    POP3 Server Test

    The "POP3 Server Test" test is designed for monitoring mail servers POP3 (Post Office Protocol version 3) functionality status.

    The test can also be used for checking the number of messages stored at the mail server and total messages size for the inputted login user name.

    Using the "POP3 Server Test" test system administrator will always stay notified about problems with POP3 mail servers and messages stored at servers.

    POP3 Server Test Properties

    "Basic" "POP3 Server Test" test properties can be set in the "Test Properties" dialog.

    Specific "POP3 Server Test" test properties include:

    • "Host" - the name or the IP address of the tested mail server.
    • "Port" - the number of the port at the POP3 Server. The default POP3 Server port is 110. In case if a mail sever was configured to use another port, specify it in this field.
    • "Timeout" - adjust this value to change timeout of the POP3 test. Default POP3 connection test timeout is set to 2.000 milliseconds. If the response from the mail server will not be received during the specified time, the test will be considered as failed.
    • "User Name" - to test the mail server, the tool will use an existing user account. Input the user name to be used for testing POP3 server. 
    • "Password" - input the password to be used for POP3 server login.
    • "Check mailbox message count" - the POP3 test can be used not only for monitoring mail server status, but also for checking the number of messages stored at the server. Setup the number of emails and the test will fail if the mailbox message count exceeds the inputted value.
    • "Check mailbox message size" - the POP3 server test can also be used for checking the total size of messages stored at the server. Setup the maximum message size and the test will fail if mailbox message size exceeds the inputted value.
