System PulseMeter Tests
Tests Basics
All system and network monitoring is performed with the help of tests. For
each test you can set it's own schedule and
actions.
To add a new test click the corresponding button in the main menu. The
"New
Test" dialog will be displayed. The dialog contains all available test grouped
by test types. Each type has a short description displayed in the "Description"
field. Select the test type and click "OK" to continue. The "Test properties"
dialog will be displayed.
To create identical tests for several different hosts use
"Duplicating Tests".
Test Types
System PulseMeter performs various tests, including:
- CPU Usage Test - Checks the CPU usage
at the selected hot. Passes if the CPU usage is lower than value specified
in the specific test properties.
- Device Status - checks
devices performance on remote hosts and fails if selected devices are not
functioning.
- Drive Free Space - Checks the free space available on a certain drive.
- ICMP(ping) - Use ICMP test for checking if a certain host is
reachable across the local network or Internet.
- File Integrity - Monitor file
checksum (CRC64) and files integrity with the help of "File Integrity" test.
- File/Folder Size - Checks the size of a certain file or folder.
- Firebird Database Connection
Test - Firebird Database Connection Test attempts to connect to
Firebird Database using certain database name and user credentials. Test
passes if connection was successful, fails otherwise.
- HTTP Request Test - Sends request to
HTTP server and checks response. Passes if response code is in certain set
of values fails otherwise.
- MSSQL Database Connection Test
- Test connects to MSSQL Database Server using certain database name and
user credentials. Test passes if connection was successful, fails otherwise.
- MySQL Database Connection Test
- Attempts to connect to MySQL
Database Server using certain database name and user credentials. Test
passes if connection was successful, fails otherwise.
- Network Traffic Monitor - Monitors incoming and outgoing traffic on a certain
interface or on all available interfaces.
- Oracle Database Connection Test -
Attempts to connect to Oracle
Database Server using certain database name (TNS Alias) and user
credentials. Test passes if connection was successful, fails otherwise.
- POP3 Server Test - Attempts to
connect to POP3 Server using certain server name, port and user credentials.
Test passes if connection was successful, fails otherwise. Additional
conditions like message count and mailbox size can be added.
- Process Memory - Checks the memory amount used by a certain process.
- SNMP Get Test - Reads value of a
certain OID and compares with a user-defined value. Test passes if
comparison condition is met, fails otherwise.
- TCP Connection Test - Attempts to
connect to a remote host on a certain port. Test passes if connection
established successfully fails otherwise. Additional TCP reply-related test
conditions can be specified.
- Windows Service - Checks the current state of a selected Windows
Service.
- WMI - Use WMI tests for checking various data and operations based on
Windows Management Instrumentation.
- Windows Update - Tests if Windows Update is turned on and/or if there
are important updates, that haven't been installed yet.
Test Properties
Test properties include "Basics", "Dependencies" and "Specific Test
Properties".
Test options can be set in the "Test Properties" dialog.
