Network Traffic Monitor Test

Network traffic monitoring test enables you to administrate the way of network is being used, measure network traffic used by network users, point out probable threats, etc.

Using network traffic monitoring test administrator will have an insight into network traffic and timely detect bottlenecks in it.

Network Traffic Monitor Test Properties

"Basic" Network Traffic Monitor test properties can be set in the "Test Properties" dialog.

Specific Network Traffic Monitor test properties include:

• "Test passes when "Incoming/Outgoing traffic" on [All interfaces] < 128 KB/sec" - the default test settings. Default traffic monitor test properties are highlighted as links and can be changed by clicking them and selecting different properties from displayed dialogs.
  • "Incoming/Outgoing traffic" - click "Incoming/Outgoing traffic" to view dialog containing available traffic types:
    • "Incoming/Outgoing traffic" - select this option to monitor both incoming and outgoing network traffic.
    • "Incoming traffic" - check this option to monitor only incoming network traffic.
    • "Outgoing traffic" - select this feature to monitor only outgoing network traffic.
  • "[All interfaces]" - to change the monitored interface, click the "All interfaces" setting and select a different interface from the dialog. The dialog will contain the list of all available interfaces from the monitored host, selected in "Perform by" option ("Basic" test properties). 
  • "<" - select the condition of the test. Available conditions include:
    • "<" - select this option and the test will be considered as successful when network traffic is less than inputted value. Test will fail if the amount of network traffic is more than inputted value.
    • ">" - check this option and the test will be considered as successful when network traffic is more than inputted value. Test will fail if the amount of network traffic is less than inputted value.
  • "128" - the amount of the allowed network traffic. Click it and input another value to change the number of the allowed traffic for the test.
  • "KB/sec" - the measurement of the value. Available measurements include:
    • "B/sec"
    • "KB/sec"
    • "MB/sec"
